Industry Research

We came to the decision that our opening sequence would be broadcasted on Disney Channel; we chose this because we found that it was the most popular children’s TV channel watched by our target audience in the survey. It is very suitable for the channel as it confines to the similar features that Disney offers such as teenage characters.

“The channel specializes in television programming for children through original children's television series and movies, as well as third-party programming. It is marketed mostly toward young children, with the exception of their weekend prime-time block that is aimed at ages 12–14, and the Disney Junior programming block aimed towards children ages 2–6. In recent years, the diversity of viewers has increased with an older audience, typically teenagers, young adults and young families. The platform brands are Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, Disney Cinemagic, Hungama TV and Radio Disney.”

DVD

We will also be releasing our TV show on a DVD so we looked at some of Disney Channel’s DVD releases. This gave us an idea of how they are set out, plus details such as the ratings and logos. We have found that most of Disney's contains either a PG or U rating and we feel our opening sequence would suit a PG rating.

"PG stands for Parental Guidance. This means a film is suitable for general viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Parents should consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children."
