Magazine Planning

The first layout we decided that it would be effective for the titled to be displayed across the whole page at the top of the cover. This is so the title is a main feature of the magzine and will stand out on the shelf to anyone who glances at it. For the main bulk across the cover (middle - right centre) are the characters. Simalarly to the DVD cover, the main character is larger than the characters at the side. This is to clearly show who the main character is and that the redears attention should be on that person. Articles and offers are displayed on the left side of the cover as they are important, but no important to enought to take the centre of the cover. This also follows real life media conventions similar to ones we studied in research that the articles are shown at the side of the cover. At the bottom are prizes and games that are to be won and played inside the magazine. We feel this is important as it gives the audience a highlight as to could be inside the magazine, but we have put it at the bottom of the cover as characters and the title take over in importance

For the second layout we decided to take a slightly different approach. Instead of the articles being layed out on the left hand of the screen and the title being completely across the top - the main image will dominate the middle of the cover and the title will be restricted to the top left giving more space for the date and prizes and games. Alike the first draft the main character is larger than the characters at the side. This is to clearly show who the main character is and that the readers attention should be on that person. There will be posters and offers displayed at the bottom of the cover as we feel it is important to have this from the research we conducted.
